Le Pont
Inhabited by “Les Pontounets”, the village of Le Pont is located at the north-east end of Lac de Joux. This privileged situation has allowed tourists an easy access for more than a century.
The village of Le Pont was originally called “Champ du Port” (“The field of the harbour”), which changed into “Les Petites Charbonnières”. The present name was only given after the construction of the bridge (“le pont”) that connected it with the village of Les Charbonnières. The coat of arms adopted in the beginning of the twentieth century calls your attention to the gastronomic specialty of Le Pont : fish.
In the touristy aspect, Le Pont is strategically situated between Lac de Joux and Lac Brenet. An ideal starting point for hikers who wish to set off for Dent de Vaulion or Vallorbe via Le Col du Mont d’Orzeires. Go for a stroll along the lakefront and stop to taste a local specialty while admiring the lake!
