Walking & hiking
Stroll along a river, rove the woods or wander on a mountain ridge; Vallée de Joux offers you a big choice of walking-tours in order for you to explore its amazing and varying landscape. Slip off in confidence along one of the many officially marked tracks throughout our region.
Plant and wild life in Vallée de Joux are exceptional: hectares of woods with around ten different tree species, delightful views, pastureland and wide open spaces - the chief ingredients for a pleasant hike. Our typical and abundant fir is the main tree species in the forest of Le Risoud and designs a natural border to France.
Vallée de Joux counts various summits from where you get a unique panorama: from the top of Dent de Vaulion, 1483 m, you can overlook eight different Swiss and French lakes when the weather is clear; from the summit of Mont-Tendre, 1679 m, you dominate the lowland area as well as the Alps all the way from Mont Blanc to Bernese Oberland; from Roche Champion, 1372 m, you view the picturesque little villages in Franche-Comté.
As to Lac de Joux and Lac Brenet, lined with beaches and woods, you’re invited to stroll and relax.
