The Fête du Vacherin Mont-d'Or on the road!
The producers and maturers of Vacherin Mont-d'Or invite all lovers of local products to meet them during a stroll along the shores of Lac de Joux.
The history of Vacherin Mont-d'Or AOP is linked to the village Les Charbonnières. Proud of this typical cheese, the most famous local product in the valley, the village celebrates the Fête du Vacherin Mont-d'Or every year in September.
Traditionally, more than 6,000 participants gather for this convivial day, the gourmet event of the year in the region. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition of the festival had to be cancelled, much to the regret of the organisers and participants. Faced with the continuing uncertainties and determined to keep this tradition of gourmet encounters alive, the organisers have devised a new formula for the 2021 edition.
From the Baie du Pont to Les Charbonnières, passing in front of Lac Brenet, along a 2-kilometre walk in the enchanting setting of the Vallée de Joux, the public is invited to meet the Vacherin Mont-d'Or maturers and craftsmen. Some 20 open-air stands will offer tastings of the new season's Vacherin Mont-d'Or, which has just begun, as well as the discovery of other local products and various other discovery activities.
