Set-up in an old farm house, this exhibit was created from a private collection of archives representing the numerous facets of the region’s history. The adjoining shop spotlighting regional products, gives visitors the opportunity to bring home a selection of delicious souvenirs.
Jean-Michel Rochat, of the Le Pèlerin Vacherin Mont-d’Or aging cellars, presents his Regional Museum in Les Charbonnières. Set-up in an old farm house, this exhibit was created from a private collection of archives representing the numerous facets of the history of the Vallée de Joux. Focus is on traditional craftsmanship –
“Tavillonneurs” (wood bardeau artisans), fountain craftsmen, mole hunters, "sangliers" (specialists who harvest strips of spruce used in the packaging of Vacherin Mont-d’Or), ... – but also details the important historical events of the region, the artists and other exceptional personalities, as well as the social and religious life of the valley. Visitors can also enjoy viewing the projection old movies of the Vallée de Joux in the small theatre on site.
