The Mas des Grandes Roches discovery trail takes walkers into the fascinating Risoud forest, one of the biggest in Europe. Starting in Brassus, in the Vallée de Joux, this is an easy walk but the right equipment is required to manage the terrain.
One of the biggest forests in Europe, the Risoud stretches between France and the Vallée de Joux. Known for its resonant wood used to make the finest violins and guitars, the Risoud forest is also notable for its diverse wildlife. The Risoud forest covers a huge area but the Mas des Grandes Roches trail is a chance to explore the southern edge of the forest, with information panels along the 2.5 km circuit providing fascinating details about the forest and its flora and fauna.
This easy walk is accessible in spring, summer and autumn and can be completed by well-equipped walkers in less than an hour.
