The Châtel Alpine café is well known to hikers of the Mollendruz region. Accessible both on foot and by car, it is well worth a stop.
Since its creation in 1960, the Châtel Alpine café delights lovers of hiking with its breath-taking panoramic views and regional products. It is a must stop in the region of the Mollendruz pass. A trail leading from the Alpine café takes the walkers to the top, at the Croix de Châtel. In good weather, visitors will be able to enjoy panoramic views of Lake Geneva, the Alps and Lake Neuchâtel. When you are there, you will be tempted by a fondue or the speciality of the house: the macaroni of the chalet.
From Cossonay follow the Vallée de Joux. 500 m after the pass of Mollendruz, enter the car park on the left and follow the road in the direction of the Châtel Alpine café (2.2 km).
From the Mollendruz pass, follow the Suisse Mobile route N°5 "Chemin des Crêtes du Jura" for 3.5km (about 1h) to the place called "Pré de l'Haut", then climb towards the Alpine café, visible on the left.
