A very varied route that starts and ends at the Col du Mollendruz, along forest roads, through mountain pastures and offering fantastic views of Lake Geneva and Lake Neuchâtel at certain points.
At the gateway to the Vallée de Joux, the Col du Mollendruz is the starting point of many cross-country skiing trails. The trail between Mollendruz and the Chalet Dernier starts near the Mollendruz cross-country skiing hut.
The classic and skating style track heads through wooded pastures for 2 to 3 kilometres before arriving at Sasselet. From here, there are fantastic views of the plain, Lake Geneva and the Alpine range.
The route continues through pastures and forests to the high point of Chalet Dernier (1,292m) with views of Yverdon-les-Bains and Lake Neuchâtel. Return is via the northern slope of the peak, with the Dent de Vaulion, the emblematic mountain of the region (1,482m), as the backdrop.
