Educational Trail along the Saint Norbert Path in L’Abbaye
This educational trail offers an immersive journey into the history of the Abbey of Lac de Joux, the first inhabited site in the Vallée de Joux and a major landmark of Premonstratensian heritage. The route leads to the Abbey Tower, built in the 14th century, an emblematic remnant of the monastery founded in the 12th century under the influence of Saint Norbert.
Along the Saint Norbert Path, visitors are guided by nine stained-glass windows created by artist Anne-Lise Vuilloud from Le Brassus. Each window illustrates an aspect of daily life and traditional trades of the past, stonemasons, washerwomen, blacksmiths, fishermen, bakers, sawyers and cheesemakers, tracing the evolution of the village and its economy through the centuries.
Accessible to all, this peaceful walk combines heritage, history and the transmission of knowledge in a tranquil setting.
