A loop through the Risoud forest, featuring alternating climbs and descents, with possible stops at La Molasse 2 or the Apollo shelter.
SuisseMobile Route 551 crosses the Risoud forest, the largest continuous woodland area in Switzerland. Part of the route follows the informational panels of the Resonance Wood educational trail, featuring ten illustrated signs by Pierre-Abraham Rochat that explain the history and unique qualities of the resonance spruce used in instrument making.
From the Thomassette pastures, the loop begins with a gentle climb toward the Moësettaz chalet before reaching the Grandes Roches area. The trail then continues through alternating forest and open clearings towards the Mézery junction. On this section, a short detour leads to the Apollo shelter, a simple hut accessible to visitors.
The return follows the Molasse forest road, where the La Molasse 2 hut also offers an inviting stop in the heart of the forest. A final ascent leads to the highest point of the route before a smooth descent brings skiers back to the Thomassette plain and the starting point.
