SuisseMobile Route 551: a forest loop featuring a succession of ascents and descents, with possible stops at La Molasse 2 or the Apollo shelter.
SuisseMobile Route 551 crosses the Risoud forest, the largest continuous forest area in Switzerland. Part of the route follows the signposted resonance wood educational trail, featuring ten illustrations by Pierre-Abraham Rochat that present the history and unique qualities of resonance spruce used in instrument making.
From the pastures of La Thomassette, the loop begins with a steady ascent towards the Moësettaz chalet before reaching the Grandes Roches area. The trail then continues through undergrowth and clearings to the Mézery junction. On this section, a short detour provides access to the Apollo shelter, a freely accessible hut within the massif.
The return follows the Molasse path, where the La Molasse 2 hut is also located, offering the opportunity to experience the resonance of the wood—an ideal spot for a break in the heart of nature. The route then continues on a gentle descent back to the Thomassette plain and the starting point.
